I was on flebay looking for a set of RCBS or Ohause 10-10-10 scales and I found several. A couple of them said that they were metric scales and they said they measured in grams. Is there in fact a difference in these or are they the same as "regular" 10-10-10 scales?

The only real problem I see with a metric scale is you will need to convert every time you change the setting to grains from grams. There is too much room for error IMO when regular grain measuring scales are available. The scales are the same it's just that the calibrations are in metric [grams] rather than grains. Back when I was in college I didn't have the $ to buy a scale scale in grains and I was putting together reloading equipment on the cheap to support my shooting habit. The college was cleaning out some old Ohaus triple beam ballances that were damaged. I was working as a TA at the time so I bought one for $5 from the school. Since I had access, I took 2 broken ones and made one good one out of it and calibrated it using the school's Metler ballance. For years I converted gains to grams and back again. I made myself a big chart just to make it easier. Years later I bought a scale in grains but I used that scale for many years. In fact I still have it and use it to verify weight as it is still very accurate. When you use a scale in grams there is always the possibility of a conversion error, so you're better off sticking with a scale in the proper units you are working in. Scout Master 54
