What is the difference in the short cut powder vs the long cut??? Other then the length was asked the question and wondered??? Mike | ||

Mike - the Hodgdon powder is the same just cut smaller to flow better in measures. Here's a quote from their site:

H4831 and H4831SC perform identically in my 7 mag and 300 WSM with no more variation than different lots of the same powder would show. Mike One other thing to note. The SCs will respond to a drop tube better than the LCs. A drop tube will get about a 5% improvement in capacity using something like H4831SC whereas original H4831 or IMR 4831 have little to no responce. In some instances, this can determine whether you get enough powder in the case to do what you want to do. 404J comes to mind where the SC was an advantage. | |||
