Gents, I will soon be feeding my .500 A2 and I would like to poll the users and buyers of .510 bullets. who is making the best bullets? the least expensive? who bullets are troublemakers? where do you buy them? I have 2 mould for cast plinkers so that end is arranged, but my local company "Nosler" doesn't do the fifty cal. I appreciate your feedback and insight. 45nut

45nut Hawk makes the cheapest, next to pulled milsurp. I find them a tad soft, but for north american game, it doesn't truely matter. you can get them for less than $1 each from hawk, even 80 some cents. i'll be using either barnes or woodleighs when/if it goes to africa, though. too cheap insurance. jeffe

The best: Barnes 570 grain XLC. GSC 570 grain FN. Woodleigh 570 grain Weldcore and their solids. They are all reasonably priced, just get some, and you will not be sorry. The Barnes originals of 600 grain RNSP are no more. The 600 grain solids are still available, of course. Save money with your bullet casting for plinking loads. You can single-shot-load the milsurps for about 35 cents per bullet for the 647-700 grain ball or AP, last time I checked.

I spend about 2-3 months per year (pro)hunting in Tanzania,so I guess I shoot my 500 more than most and personally I find Woodleigh to be pretty damn perfect. I use the new protected soft point and the FMJ for everything except Elephant when I prefer to use a mono. Having said that I NEVER shoot those nasty cast lead bullets through my rifle. I prefer to use quality bullets even for practice. What's the point in spending a small fortune on a good rifle and then screw up the barrel for the sake of saving a few dollars in practice shooting. Let's face it guys, if you can afford the rifle you can also afford the ammo! Cheers Shakari

Here are some sites to look at bullets: http://www.woodleighbullets.com.au/ http://www.gscustom.co.za/ http://www.barnesbullets.com/800.html And a place to order them from additionally: http://www.huntingtons.com Personally, I would not care to lead the bore of my 510 with cast bullets either, as shakari says. Just my peculiarity too.
