| 270 Magnum dies are about as easy to sell as a single left shoe. First you're looking for a man that's lost a leg....and the right one at that...who happens to be a particular size..... and further likes that style.....and further needs a new one. Some things just stay forever.

| wby ammo being as high as it is, i'd say most people who have one already reload for it. i love the ctg. had to get rid of mine to raise a little money last year and of all the guns i sold off that's the one i miss the most. but have dies, brass, and factory ammo. i don't think it's the most popular of the wby rounds tho and am really surprised it's hung on as long as it has. |

| I'm still hunting with mine. I use it for anything larger than deer, or farther out than 200 yards. However I already own several sets of dies.
My pet peeve is that no one is producing real data with the new powders for this cartridge. Rl 25, Retumbo, and the Ramshot powders, are all being worked up in the new short magnums, which are then compared favorably to the older, longer magnum rounds, using data for the older cartridges which was produced with H4831 or 7828. I quit around 3,150 fps using RL25 under the 150 grain moly noslers in mine gun as I just had no data to go on. BD |

| I've never owned or shot a .270 Weatherby, but I do remember that Winchester made the Model 70 -- or at least listed it in their catalog -- in that caliber about a decade or so ago.

| If Weatherby releases one in the Vanguard line, I am going to get one. All things considered, the 270 wby is a great western cartridge, capable of taking Elk on down. I dont like the fat mags, and the 270 wby still outperforms the wsm so I definately would get one.

| My uncle has hunted in south Texas with his 270 Weatherby for years. He bought some dies and I reloaded for it. Just a good ole rifle. Heavy but a nice rifle for a deer stand.

| Thanks for the comments. 30 years ago I poured over the "Weatherby Catalog" with all those hotrod cartridges. It seems that they are still around.
BTW vopodog, I found the guy that needed a new left shoe; he lives in New York |

| Heck, I don't think anyone ever did shoot the 270 Wby! However it is an awsome long range caliber, shoots about as flat and far as a caliber can shoot shoot...maybe it didn't have enough bullet weight when it got there?

| Well, I shoot one, a Win 70. Shoots quite well, 150's at 3000-3100 fps. Works well on plains game. - Dan

| I like the .270 Weatherby Magnum. It makes factory ammo for the .270WSM look cheap. I am sure it is a fine cartridge, but for a lot less money, the .270 Short Magnum gets awfully close to the same neighborhood performance wise, while allowing a short action and a beltless case. I fear the old .270wby is headed down the road. Ammo and brass will only get more expensive and harder to get while the short magnums continue to grow in popularity. Sort of Darwinism of firearms.
Bullets are pretty worthless. All they do is hang around waiting to get loaded.

| I've got a blued Jap Mark V, I don't shoot it much any more, had it quite a while, but its a good shooter. I've taken a few hogs with it and used to take it to the range alot and shoot it over the chrony, it smokes with 130 grain pretty dang quick. Its a good round.
