After reading a few posts from Ray and others about how good H414 was in the 9.3x62 I thought I should try it. The only data I could find listed max load of H414 with 270 gr. bullet at 60 grains. I tried that and only got 2050 fps. Going back and reading some old posts I found some of you guys using up to 66 gr. of H414. So with 66 gr. H414 and Fed 215 primers with Speer 270 gr. bullets, I got 2225 fps. This still seems to be slower than I expected. With 62 gr. R15 and Fed 215 I got 2460 fps. This is all out of a 24" Husqvarna. Extraction seemed to be fine with the above loads and I was wondering if I should try a little more powder in the H414 load. A couple of other loads I tried were: 66 gr BL-C2 with Fed 215 @ 2455 fps and 61 gr. H380 with CCI 250 @ 2150 fps. One thing I found surprising was that the point of impact of the R15 load @ 2460 was almost a foot higher than the H414 load @ 2225 fps. Accuracy of the above loads were not that great indicating the gun may need to be rebedded. Hart

I use 68 grs. of H414 with the 250 gr. Swift bullet for about 2650 FPS in my 26" barrel, I have not chronographed this load, that's close.... I use 58 grs. of RL-15 for 2520 FPS with a 286 gr. Nosler I use 64 grs if H414 for 2457 with a 300 gr. soft, swift or any other..and 58 grs of RL-15 for 2460 with the 300 swift. I use 56.5 RL-15 with a 320 gr. woodleigh for 2400 FPS All in Lapua brass and Fed 210 match primers. All loads chronographed.. The 9.3x62 certainly utilizes the long tube well...

In my rifle with the 23.6 CZ barrel, 61 grains of RL15 gives me 2570fps with the 250 North Fork bullet. 59 gr. RL15 is good for 2418 with the 286 Nosler. Both of these loads are still pretty mild, I think I could load 60 gr. easily with the 286 for near the high 24- low 2500 fps range. I also think it's highly likely that H414 may be a bit faster, accuracy is about 1 in. for the 286 gr. load, .6 for the 250 NF load.

Ray and jstevens, thanks for the replies. I seem to have trouble achieving velocities in the 2400 fps range with my loads for the 270 gr. bullet. My H414 load where I should be at 2400 fps I am about 200 short and my R15 load where I am in the 2400 fps range, I have to use an excessive amount of powder to achieve it. I often wonder if my chrony is reading low. I think I may have to set up another chrony in tandem and verify the velocities put out by my machine. Hart

Point of impact can change with out respect to velocity, so I wouldn't worry about that.

I've been developing a load with the 286-grain Nosler Partition for my 9.3x62 Blaser's 22" barrel and tried H414, RL-15, and IMR 4895. RL-15 was the fastest but least accurate. H414 was the most accurate but slowest. I got the best overall performance with IMR 4895: 57 grains gives me 2345 fps and 1/2" at 50 yards. We'll see if the MOA accuracy holds up at 100 yards next.
