I received the following request, and as I have no experience with this caliber, may be some of you can help?

"...I’ve recently acquired some Woodleigh, 358 cal, 310gr bullets. I’m planning

on using them in a pair of 358 NM rifles I have but I’m unable to find any data

to get me started. Three powders I have available are IMR 4064, IMR 4320

and IMR 4350. Primers, either CCI 250 large rifle magnum or their standard

200. Can you help me out with any recommendations or suggestions to get

Me started?..."

I checked on LoadData.oom and the only load listed for 310gr Woodleighs in a 358 NM was 63gr of H4350SC. Maybe that will give you some reference to start from.

That's John Baresness load in his article Medium Medium's as well.

I used 60 grs of 4895 behind 300gr Barnes Originals until they stopped making them and now use the same with 280 Swifts.

I tend to use more than enough gun

The ADI reloading catalogue lists loads for the 358NM using AR2208 which is Varget and close to IMR4064, and AR2209 which is H4350 and very close to IMR4350. I found IMR4350 and AR2209 were interchangeable when loading for the 7mm-08.

ADI do not list loads for the heavy 310gr bullets but Woodleigh does advertise a load service in his catalogue and says that if you request loads provide the powder types available that you have. He will likely give loads in AR powders but these are easily cross referenced.

Using the published AR loads for the lighter bullets in the 358NM it would not be hard to come up with starter loads for the 310gr bullet.

IMR4064 = @62 grains max.
IMR4320 = @63.5 grains max.
IMR4350 = @69.5 grains max.

As per usual start 10% low and work up, this is a QL guestimate, not gospel!!!

You can also look at 338 WM load data for the 275g and 300g----for starting load referenes.
My research says the 358NM likes 4350.
