I have found a load for 44 magnum and a 300gr XTP bullet. It is listed as going 1266fps for 18 gr of H110 and 1325 for 19gr of H110. 38,800 CUP.

Is this suitable for a 629 or is this a rifle load?

Its a maximum load for a 629. Work up carefully and be advised that maximum loads with 300 grain bullets put lots of wear on a 629 if it is an early one marked in the frame/crane area 629, 629-1, 629-2. With the 629-3 an endurance package was added to make the gun last longer with heavy loads.

I used that bullet in my Ruger SBH with a similar load and the heavier recoil caused the POI to be much higher than the rear sight adjustment could compensate. I mounted a scope on it and took a nice hog, but it made the gun clumsy so now I use lighter bullets with the open sights.
