Philinms, the RE25 should be way to slow a powder for the 140 wt. bullet. The slow powders work good with the heavier bullets. I have some IMR5010 that will not shoot 140s in my STW but the 160s and 175s just lust for this slow powder.

I'm thinking you meant H5010?? Re 25 and h 5010 are way apart for burn rates. When re 25 first came out alot of people thought it had a burn rate between 7828 and h 1000. At first people seemed to recomend loads more towards h1000 but the burning speed now seems much closer to 7828. I checked with quickload and it liked about 79 grains of re 25 under the 140 and about 75.5 under the 160. Both these are 2 grains over what it thinks you should burn of 7828.

My theory--be it wrong or right is that I would consider the strongest load of 7828 as a starting point for re 25 and work up from there. OR better yet go to alliantpowder.com and check their loads.

Check Alliant's web site for that data, it's there, and you know it's been tested. Guy
