loads for 35 whelen
was wondering if any body had some loads using 250 grn and 200grn projectiles..they are to be used in 2 rem7600 carbines unfortunately they only have around 17 inch barrels. The models i looked at in the shop before ordering them had longer barrels when ours turned up with a different stock that could only be used with open sights (made them get replacement stocks)but unfortunately could do nothing about the barrel length.so need a load to boost the performance a bit but can still go in the pump actions

Don't have any loads with a short barrel to give you any real help.

The pump will probably limit your pressure to industry std.

I would look to something in the faster range like RL15 or 17 IMR 4895 BL-c2 etc.

As usual just my $.02

The pump is chambered in the .270 and as such a fully capable action.

I'd not be afraid to load to the same pressures of the .270 Win in a .35 Whelen chambered Rem pump gun.

Thanks guys got my hands on some hornady flex tips 200grn might have a play with them over summer on pigs .But the main reason i bought them was for hunting sambar in the thick regrowth we have over here (after several bad fire years)off the beagles we use to scent trail them ,calls for fast snap shooting with up close thump power,my 458 is to long and heavy same for the siameese mauser in 45/70 the T3 tikka in 338WM and my bsa in 338 fed my sons rem in 375HH and his custom 35 whelen p17 are to slow for follow up shots, semi aotos are banned here so that leaves pumps or levers found pumps to be quickest, and yes we do like big calibres to use on sambar.

The 35 Whelen is a factory available chambering in that rifle at one time or another...l load it to factory/SAAMI standard pressure/velocity and be happy...whatever you shoot won't know the slight loss in velocity...if any.

If you don't like the barrel length you can screw on whatever length you like and gain maybe 100-200 fs more...at about $100 per inch of added new barrel.

Your choice...but I would leave it alone...as it is it will take most of the worlds game without a bobble.
