I'm taking a long range shooting course next week and I've been forced to use 178 Hornady instead of 175 sierra because of the component shortage here in PA. I use 43.0gr of RL15 or 43.5 Varget for the Sierra 175. I hope this works for the Hornady 178 as well. Does anyone use these out to 1000?

nick, What barrel length and twist are you shootin? Are they amax? If you can get you velocity around 2700f/s you might have a pretty good load. I like varget and imr 4064 both gave me velocitys around 2700 to 2730. 1:10 24" douglas barrel. Dave

You should be fine. I prefer 190's.....yes....even in the 308/7.62. With a generous/close to max load of RL 15 they shoot great in a 1-10" twist and stay supersonic at 1K even in a 20" M14 barrel. They would do fine in your 24" too. As HV said, the 178's will do fine as well. You will just have to watch the wind closer....but that's what shooting 1000 is all about! Where is the clinic, Reade Range?? Been there quite a few times. Great place.
