Has anybody loaded Norma Oryx, and would you care to share your experience regarding accuracy with these bullets??

I guess there are always grand illusions, when one gets a box of new bullets, loads up some rounds and heads to the range. I tried some 180grs Oryx in my .30-06 the other day, and the results were OK - for hunting - but nothing spectacular. I was wondering what other people have observed with these bullets?? Some bullets (Nosler BT) are inherently accurate, some are less so.

I own a Rem 700 AWR rifle in 300wm. Got it last year and ran a lot of different bullets trough it in search of the best presicion hunting load. 130+168gr Barnes XLC, 150gr Swift Scirrocco, Nosler PT and BT 180grs and Norma Oryx 180+200grs. Best results was 200grs Norma Oryx+ 77,5grs VV N170, bullets set pretty far out. 4 shots into 14 millimeter group at 100 meters is OK with me. I shot 1 blackbear and 2 deers with it last fall. Quick clean kills, enormous entrance and exit holes also. I actually hoped one of the bullets with higher BC should be the most presice load, but I'll guess I stick to the Oryxs for this rifle atleast. Come to think of it, what can't be done with a 200grs bonded bullet in a 300wm?

Thanks for that a120! I guess the Oryx is not such a big item in the US, so the data had to come from Europe . All the more welcome as it was!

I found them okay for hunting. They are more consistant than I am!

They group around 25mm in my 8x57 Heym

In my 9.3x62 they are more accurate than I am. Due to the fact my 232s are discontinued I am sparing enough that I've only shot one 3 shot group, the rest have been check zeroed and on moose. That said, indications are that they seem to be as accurate as Vulkans which are well under an inch.

Being bonded, theory says that they should have less accuracy potential as there is greater scope for eccentricity in the bonding process.

I had thought that bonding = tougher = reduced weight and increased MV to get to open. Not so, they may hang together but overexpansion was occuring in my 232gr on big game.
