When you neck size only, does this 40 degree shoulder lessen the need to set the shoulder back after several firings?

That's the theory, and my own personal experience bears this out. FWIW - Dan

I have only one AI and its a 6mm 30-30 with that said I can tell you this about that. After the first firing the sharp shoulder all but eliminates case stretching. I can get away with just neck sizing for many loadings (at least 8).....not sure how many because I am still working on a large batch I got initially with the gun.

Does anyone own a 30/30 AI, and would it be worth the trouble to convert a 336T Marlin (old rifle, but good shooter)? If so, who can do it and what would be the estimated cost? Thanks - Mags

I doubt that its worth the trouble to do an ackley on the 30-30 win., its a pretty good round just as it is and a couple of hundred FPS won't do much...

The only imp cartridges that ever showed me anything were the 7x57, 257 and 250 Savage and actually none of them made much difference in killing effect on game...

I'm on my 5th loading of my .260AI & haven't trimmed a case yet. I am neck sizing after the initial fireforming.

Mags. ballistically the 30-30 AI will be the same as a 300 Savaage, give or take a foot per second or two. Not sure what it would cost where you are, last one I did cost $180 CDN, or about $145 US. - Dan
