There's a guy at the farm who sez he's been reloading primers with paper rolled cap's for cap guns in SR primers for .223. Here's how he does it: Take old primer anvils out and press dimple out with proper punch. Using a leather punch he gets the dot off the roll. About 1 in 20-30 pop off during this punching operation. Place two dots in empty primer and replace anvil. That's what he's been using and he's been reloading since June. I guess I'm just a scaredy cat from wheeling full 150 gallon tanks of nitro glycerin 200 yards to pre-mix at Hercules years ago, but I won't be doing this too soon I hope. Has anyone heard of this?

I have heard of using the tips off of wooden matches but the caps sound like a better idea. Either way I wouldn't want to do it. If it cant be Grown it has to be Mined! they used to sell a kit to punch muzzle loader caps out of soda cans. you inserted a cap like mentioned above and crimped things in place. I'd imagine you'd need two caps now days.

Can't recall now where I saw the ad for the "kit to use those caps for recharging primers. They were for sale somewhere not too long ago. George "Gun Control is NOT about Guns' "It's about Control!!" Join the NRA today!" LM: NRA, DAV, George L. Dwight

There many techniques for recharging primers. Most of them are used when you can not get the real thing. It is good knowledge to have just in case. So far I have not had to use it.
