I recently picked up a box of 200 gr Accubonds for my .300 Win Mag and these babies are LONG (the longest Nosler makes if I'm not mistaking). Has anyone had any experience with them? I've got a 10-twist and am wondering if that will be enough to stabilize these missiles.

Hey J 76

IMO, absolutely. Stabilization depends upon length of bullet contact with barrel rather than total length of bullet. The 200 AB has a boat tail, a long ogive and a plastic tip which adds to its length but the contact portion of the bullet is not excessively long. 1 in 10 is faster than some 300's.

My 300 win mag has no problem. My load is 79 gr H1000 with the 200 AB. Excellent accuracy.

73.3 gr RL22 is also good but the H1000 was a little better.

Start lower, work up

You will stabilize them fine with 1-10" twist. Nosler's testing was done with that twist as well.

This is a misunderstanding as the stabilization does depend solely on the overall length of the bullet and has nothing to do with the length of barrel contact.

I'm going to try H4831sc as I have had good luck with this powder in my rifle. I've played around with Rl22, but I get extreme pressure signs with loads well below maximum (I blew out a primer with 77gr behind a 168gr bullet in a new hull). The chamber is very tight and I think that has something to do with it.
