I need help with powder for the 3006. Which powder you using and starting load? I'm haven't loaded this bullet before. And am gonna use for primarily my elk and deer rifle. I read on the net the good and the bad about this bullet. So am lost, is this a good bullet for hunting deer and elk? The rifle is a model 70 with Zeiss scope. Any help I would appreciate thanks.

RL 22 gets you the most velocity with 150 and 180 gr. bullets, start at 57 and work up, my 30-06,s max out at 58 to 60 grs..H414 is second choice .

Ive shot a lot of elk and deer with the 180 gr. Accubonds and the partition, and never have I had a complaint on accuracy or killing quickly..Ive used both 150 and 180 Accubonds in Africa as well as culling and same in Texas.

Early on I used Rem Corelokts Silvertips and no problems. most of todays bullets work fine for hunting big game..I have not had a bullet failure in 40 years..the companies like Sierra, Speer and Hornady listened and fixed that, if you get a failure today it was a missed bullet on the production line and I suppose thats possible as anything made by man can fail..

A high percentage of bullet failure these days is shooter era and denial ego

I've dropped 3 cow elk with the 143 grain ELD-X without issue. I doubt you will have a problem using the 178 grain ELD-X (with all the usual proviso's).

All my 180 grain hunting loads (NPT, NAB, A-Frame, Speer Hot-Cor) for the .30-06 out of a 24" barrel begin with 57 grains H4350. These average a MV between 2,700 - 2,725 fps. I would suggest trying that.

I recently purchased 500 of these and will be working up a load with TU7000. It's a winter.project I'll get back with results.
