.223 cartridge, Mid South's 34gr. HP, VNM Pushed by 17gr. 2400, Wolf primers, Win cases, OAL= 2.169" Barrels stayed rather cool at a rate of 2 1/2 to 3 shots per min., there was no indication of high pressure and accidental double loads will over flow. roger Old age is a high price to pay for maturity!!! Roger, You can get the same results with more case fill and less fouling with 16 gr Blue Dot. You will get 74% case fill instead of 68%. You will get 44kpsi instead of 41kpsi You will get the same velocity ~~3500 fps I have shot thousands and my brother has shot thousands of 15 gr Blue Dot .224" 33 gr Vmax moly at 3500 ~ 3600 fps. I have got a .46" 5 shot group at 100y with a Ruger #1V .223. That was a low wind day What does it all mean? Roger, are you getting into Blue Dot loads through the back door?

This is additional info. I've been in and out of blue dot for about 5 or 6 years. also many of the other faster burning powders that I test fire.Just going where my curiousity takes me. For every day extended use I try to stay away from powders where a double charge can go un-noticed and produce an injury to equipment or people. Just personal preference.Roger Old age is a high price to pay for maturity!!! Some never pay and some pay and never reap the reward. Wisdom comes with age! Sometimes age comes alone..
