p dog shooter45lbs of used primers
Some time ago I started throwing most of my used shotgun primers into a container had 45 lbs of them.
Today I decided to figure out about how many rounds that represented.
Frist I weighted 10 primers and come up with a avg of 130grs thats 13 grs per primer.
Then took 45lbs x7000 then divided that by 13 and came up with over 24000
What does it mean really nothing just haveing some fun when it is cold and nasty out.

StonecreekLot's of copper in that 45 lbs. Have you contacted a scrap dealer to find out what they're worth?

SR4759Stonecreek,
Shotshell primers, at least the battery cup housings and anvils are made of plated steel.

Yes they are steel at about 6 cents a lb now for that type of steel. A whole $2.70 worth

Now the lbs of spent pistol and rilfe primers are worth a bit more they are brass.
I worked a bit for my freind that ran the local scrap metals place. I learned a bit about buying and selling scrap metal.

dpcdBetter save those primer hulls because when obama and pilosi ban them you will have to make your own.

Allan DeGrootThe math we do when we are bored...
Like the time I calculated that as I was driving along across
Nebraska that my truck was getting lighter by some 5.3oz each minute as I drove along...
As that is how much fuel I was burning (by weight) each minute.

At 6.1 lbs per gallon X 16 oz per pound a gallon of gasoline weighs 97.6 oz. 97.6 divided by 5.3 = 18.4 minutes per gallon. If you were traveling 70 mph or 1.166 miles per minute that would equal gas mileage of (1.166 X 18.4) 21.466 miles per gallon.
Not bad for most trucks.
Of course if you were just traveling 55 mph, or .8333 miles per minute that would only be (.8333 X 18.4) = 15.33 miles per gallon. This assumes unleaded gas, since leaded gas weighs more
Bottom line: It's cold and rainy here and we all should really get out more.
