Has anyone tried or seen the new 7828 short cut powder yet? I'm curious to velocity and likeness to the original 7828. I'm thinking it's gonna have some potential in the 30-06 family of cases with heavier bullets. I haven't seen it on the shelves here in central Wis yet.

I've used the new IMR/Hodgdon 7828ssc, and you can really pack it in the case! - I can get ~73 grs. in my 30-06 Ackley Improved. The load density is "solid" so you can't compress it quite as easy.

I bet you can get ~69 grs. in a std 30-06 case (depending upon manufacturer). It's slow burning, maybe slightly faster than Re25 or Retumbo - that is, close to but slightly slower than Re22 or V560.

I use 7828 in my .280 & .260ai. Can't wait for my local guy to get some in to give it a try. I'm thinking it will be perfect in my .260ai under 142grSMK. thumb

Just got it in stock a couple of weeks ago.

I'm pretty confident it will do for IMR7828 what H4831SC did for H4831.
