most of the cases that i have checked are around 26.5 to 27 grains. winchester, pmc federal and remington. just depends on that batch. size of the case after fire forming and wheather you full length resize Here is a calculator that works fairly well less than 5% error http://kwk.us/cases.html also good description http://www.castbullet.com/reload/vmd.htm

hivelosity.....Thank you. I have reloaded 22 hornet for many years, where cases from Remington would hold 1gr more powder than say RWS - and that meant a 'big' difference in load performance. Hence my query about 222 Remington. Do you know which manufacturer produces 222 cases with the maximum capacity (pre firing)? Regards... ...Titan

federal nickle plated cases are usually 7 to 10grs lightern than remington or winchester, The federals has a slight advantage in volume. But again it depends on the chamber size wheather you neck size or full length size. with the triple duce most powders will fill the case 90% to 95 % some are slightly compressed i use 26.5 grains of ww760 40gr v-max and .003" bullet grip. this load is sightly compressed and with out enough grip on the bullet it will push the bullet out a few thousands after a short time.
