got one of these from an estate sale with a bunch of other stuff and was wondering what its worth as I plan to sell it. It has the shell holder adapter to use regular shell holders. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

sixgunner, These presses appear on ebay from time to time. The biggest impact on sales value is the price of shipping. There are several model 3's on sale now. I've seen some super model 81's go as high as 40 to 50 in the last year or so, depending on condition and accessory bundling. Marv

Yep, no question that eBay is a very efficient market and will pretty well peg the price of the press for you. Of course, if you had the same buyer across the street, you could add back the $20 in shipping that the mail-order buyer will have to discount its value. The shell holder adapter really helps this one, since the old Herter's shell holders are very hard to come by. Herter's had a quite variable reputation for the quality of its products, but Herter's presses seem to have been well-made and are hell-for-stout (and correspondingly heavy!)

These are good solid presses. About six months ago, I bought one on Ebay for $15.00. The shipping was another $15.00. Now I am up to $30.00 for the press. It came with 4 original Herters shell holders which I sold for $20.00. That takes me down to $10.00. I bought an RCBS coversion shell holder on ebay for $11.00. I am up to $21.00 again. Well with the extra height that comes with this shell holder conversion you can no longer prime on the press (which I don't do anyway), so I sold the two primers arms for $14.00. Final price of the rig to me is $5.00. The press clean up very nice and is very tight with little wear. Great single strage press and heavy as all get out, which is good.
