What the heck is going? Nearly impossible to find Large Rifle Magnum Primers. Been driving up and down the tri-state area looking for them, even the usual Internet Stores (Miday, etc) are short. But persistance pays off. I managed to get enough of Winchesters, Federal and CCI to last me a couple of years. I spoke to a few of the large shops and they informed me they have been on back-order going back to last year, anyone have any real inmformation. I've heard the usual explanation "the military is buying up" & "the manufacturers are selling only to the US Army", for %25-%150 more than we regular civilians would pay.
I also noticed all the stores are raising their prices. a box of 1000 was $30 last year, I paid $42 last week.

You got ripped off. I paid $160 cash out the door for 5000 Federal 215 Gold Medal Match primers about a month ago.

Prices per 1000 around here are still around $27-37.

Eurocentric, where in Westchester? I originally hail from Pelham Manor & Hillsdale in Columbia county.

Went to a gunshow here in Las Vegas this AM and got Fed 215 MATCH, the last 800 the dealer had for $18. Another dealer had CCI large @ $24.95 per K and small rifle $21.95/K or $107/5K. Smiler

The first dealer I talked to said that Federal has suspended all domestic orders and is not accepting backorders regardless of whom you are! Eeker

That should be worth at least $10 per K!!! Roll Eyes

Over all saved a pretty penny by shopping the various tables and only missed one item when the gentleman in front of me purchased a dealers entire stock... Frowner

Now to get online and order some bullets...

Interesting. Winchester primers here are collecting dust. Feds are the ones that are hit and miss.

Hey guys you may need to get out of Westchester for some supplies.
Cross the Newburg bridge into Orange County and head up 208 to Thruway sports in Walden NY, they have Primers on hand. I just bought a brick of Rem 9 ½ LR (paid $28.95) they have some bricks of Fed, CCI and Winchester also, but limited.
I go there when my main local store doesn’t have something in stock, and the Rem 9 ½ were the only ones I needed.

I would also stock up on other primers because you’re right, if Midway has no LR & LRM it’s a sign and warning not to get caught without.

This war will most likely last another ten years no matter who gets in; if it is because of the war we are short on Primers it will get worse.

What good is Powder without Primers?

Good shooting.

Seems to be a shortage in general of most all primers .

I've contacted Federal as for a direct explanation .

I did notice Lock Stock & Barrel isn't selling primers Via internet any longer . Anyone know what that's all about ?.
I assume when they say via internet , this means they don't or won't ship them .

You have to call them and order via the phone. I just purchased all of their WLRM primers (15k).

Wow! You guys make me look like small pototoes!

Plety of primers here in Iowa. But you might have to drive across town to get them. If what is said about the Federal primers is true, then I need another 1000 or so small rifle for my .454 Casul.

Hate to run out.

Gidday Guys,

Around here the retailers are rationing us to 200 primers per sale because they are in short supply. The same reason is given, that the US govt is buying all the supplies. Also the restrictive laws in the US stop friendly nations from buying "war supplies" for civilian use.

While not banning such sales they make it very difficult to get sporting goods out of the US. Just try leaving the US with a firearm and then return without it and see what happens.

Primers by the way go foe $7.99 per hundred down here.

Happy Hunting

Ken thank you for your interest in Federal
primers. Please understand that our manufacturing capabilities are at an
all time high and the current wartime situation is hindering domestic
shipments for the time being. All of our major trading partners have
orders on the books and we will be filling orders as product becomes
available. I know that may not be what you want to hear but it is the
best we can do for now. A few places you can try are Cabela's, Midway
Arms (on line) The Sportsmans Warehouse, OUTDOOR SPORT lcoated in
STOCKTON, CA 209 957 4867.

We shall now dispense with my personal contact !.

The estimate for Shipments, according to Federal, is late 2009. And I am willing to bet that's not set in stone.
