Posted on the small Caliber site as well. Does anyone have any reduced loads for the 223? The new Speer book does list one powder and I've found a load with 800X and Red Dot as well. Any other loads you are using that give good results? Thanks for the help.

Check out the Calhoon bullets web site. They have several articles on reduced loads. I got the idea from them to use Blue Dot powder. 12.5 grains behind bullet weights from 40 to 55 grains. Is for a 200 yd load, about 2600 fps with a 55 grain bullet. Out of one pound of powder I can get almost 600 loads! It is very consistent with minimal standard velocity deviation and is definitely Minute of Prairie dog. Just got back from a trip earlier this from Montana, where I went thru about 300 plus rounds. Also takes a while to heat up the barrel real hot, so really extends the barrel life on a 223. good luck

12.0grs. of 2400, under a 55gr. bullet, is a very accurate load in my .223. OAL = 56.5mm

Thanks for the replys! I found the Calhoon site. I liked the Red Dot load and the Spear Book listed a load of 11 grains of 5744 @1950 amd 12 grains max at around 2000 fps. I also found a load for 800X powder at HA. Has anyone tried that? Any other loads that shoot one hole? Snapper

I made a typing mistake! The correct load is: 21.5 grains of Win-748 with a 55 gr. PSP bullet.

I just worked on a load this weekend - I ordered some 42 and 57 gr bullets from James Calhoon. I loaded: 7gr Unique & 42gr DblHP Calhoon 8gr Unique & 42gr DblHP Calhoon Both sounded like cap guns but put five rounds in 1" and 1.5" respectively. Brandon
