8 pounds of the new temperature stable IMR 4955 followed me home. The price was far to low to n buy it. Now, what do I do with it? : ) The Hodgdon website lists loading data for the .416 Rigby, which is one gun I do not own. Does anyone have any load data for IMR 4955 for these big bore cartridges? .375 H&H .416 Taylor .416 Remington .458 Lott .450 Rigby Thanks in advance! Mark

"IMR-4955's relative burn rate falls between H-4831 on the fast side and Reloder 22 on the slow end." I haven't used any 4955 but found this information on the web. If the information is accurate (and other loading data for 4955 indicates that this is correct) then it is very much on the slow side of any of the big bores you mention. With a full case and a 300 grain bullet it might yield satisfactory velocities in the .375.

If the burn rate is in the 4831 nad Re 22 area then all you can get in the case for those calibres but you won't full velocity, except in 450 Rigby if you use factory ballistics as the marker, which are in reality reduced loads just like 416 Rigby factory ballistics.
