46 grains Varget behind a Speer 165 SP, CCI 200. Unlike many of Hodgdon's claims, this particular combination shoots the same hot or cold.

Have you tried light bullets 125-135 with reloder 15 in the 308?

My favorite load is 44.5 grains of Reloader 15 and Sierra 175 grain Matchkings with Federal Match Primers loaded .020" off the lands. Out of my box stock Remington Light Tactical rifle that load put 9 out of 10 shots in a nice looking 2" circle at 500 yards last year while I was shooting prone with a bipod. For some reason I must have had a brain fart on the 10'th shot because it went about a foot wide and ruined my group. Who knows, maybe I acquired a flinch or something.

In My Savage 11FC, I have had great luck using 44.5Gr. H335 powder, Winchester primers, Sierre 150Gr. Gameking bullets, remington brass, and a AOL of 2.775. My average groups are around 3/4" @ 100M. Best group was 3/8".

crowrifle
150 grain Nosler Ballistic Tips over 49 grains of WW748. CCI BR primers and Norma brass. Not my most accurate load ( groups hover around 0.75 MOA ), but pressures are low and brass seems to last longer. Plenty for Peidmont NC whitetails.

Here is what 45 grains of N135 and 46.3 grains of N140 will do in Lapua brass w/ 134/10 ogive BIB Bullet from my Hunter Benchrest Rifle. Rem 722 action, Lilja 15 twist barrel 22.8", McMillain HBR stock (old Model), Leupold 6x Compact w/ AO, Jewell trigger. The first target shows what happens when I seated the bullet 0.020" off the jam. The second target is using N140 powder.
