I am getting that Howa 223 HB dialed in with 50's and 55's. I got them seated way out just short of the rifling. I read in a lower thread about seating the 40's deeper and it works. Now I'm really curious. I can't seem to find the original post though. What depth do you seat your 40's and 50's? Thanks so much for any info. David

Stronics, I cna't find the old post either. It was mainly back and forth between Green788 and rifleman. Green had spoken with some ballistics techs about it. I can't recall what his OAL or COL was but as stated below I settled on 2.235" with the Hornady 40grn. Vmax in Federal nickle cases trimmed to 1.755". I'm a happy man because I have a $185 rifle that will shoot one hole if I do my part and thanks to those guy's post I didnt have to waist a lot of components and time with load development. Dave, thanks for the reply. I am curious, what powder do you use with your 40's? I worked up a good load for the 50's with 4895 but still want to try different powders. Have you tried Varget? Thanks David

One rather large hole! Not yet but I intend to try Green's load above. I started with W748 just because I was using it in my .308 with light bullets and the Nosler #4 manual listed it as most accurate in the .223 but the manual was obviously pre Varget and Benchmark. Good Luck and let us know how things turn out for you. Dave

Nosler 40 gr BTs, Varget, Fed 205, Win Nickle brass is the "bomb". as I so often hear these days. I happen to have found 27.3 gr of Varget and OAL of 2.240 trips the trigger in my NEF 223. Dave
