Blue Dot Range Report: 243 Winchester

Bullet: 75 grain Hornady Hollow Point

Case: Remington, Not new

Primer: Large Rifle

OAL: 69.35mm

Max Capacity: 38 grains of Blue Dot

40%: 15.2 grains
60%: 22.8 grains

Tested: 17 to 23 grains

Rifle Used: Ruger 77 Mk 2, 22 inch stainless steel factory barrel, Sporter Weight.

Velocity Results:

17 grains: 2418 fps
18 grains: 2502 fps
19 grains: 2585 fps
20 grains: 2707 fps

21 grains: 2805 fps
22 grains: 2887 fps
23 grains: 2962 fps

Notes:
1. Recoil and noise with the 17 grain load was very pleasant.
2. Noticable increase of noise and recoil with 18 grains compared with 17 grains.
3. All cases extracted very easily.
4. 23 grain load was fine, and represented the 60 % mark, which I standardly treat as maximum. People can feel free to work up from there, but I recommend stopping at 60% in Blue Dot loads.

Seafire,
I sure appreciate the load data and all your work on these Blue Dot loads for different cal. I am saving all them.
Thanks for the time, expense and effort you've put in to it. We do appreciate it.

David,

I am starting to save these in a Word document and filing them on the harddrive.

I am going to compile them into some sort of book, or booklet form.

For those that have a desire for a particular load or caliber, if I have it on file, if they email me, I will just email them that particular requested info.

Thanks for the kind words.

Cheers and Good shooting
