Where can I get load info on the 470NE using Barnes 500gr Banded Solids and Barnes 500gr TSX bullets?

Unless your shooting a Ruger #1 or a Searcy ... don't. Can cause real problems with the integrity of many doubles and may not be at all recommended. If you're shooting a Searcy ... ask Butch! I have a Merkel 470 and decided AGAINST the Barnes Banded Solid for the reason(s) stated on this forum...numerous times. I have the following chrono'd data from my rifle: 90 gr of RL 15 with foam filler and a 500 gr Woodleigh soft for 2160 fps. 89 gr of RL 15 with foam filler and a 500 gr North Fork solid (cup point...FN solid shouldn't be any different) for 2200 fps. Both loads shoot to same POA at 60 yds in my gun. Gary DRSS NRA Lifer SCI

I was looking into solids for by 470 Merkle as well. I called GSI and asked, they said you may shoot any solid you choose. (the gun was actually regulated with Federal solids). If in doubt, call the manufacture.

For solids in a 470 DR, I stick with Northfork or GS Custom. SCI Life Member DSC Life Member

Thanks for the info. I just purchased a Krieghoff in the 470NE and will hunt Elephant in April. Is it just solids that can be a problem in the doubles, what about Barnes TSX bullets can they be a problem?
