This rifle has no silencer on it.

We have a 223 Remington that does have a silncer, and I am planning to do test on that one with and without the silencer.

I will post the results when finished.

I guess there is no case space filler needed in the loads listed.

About 30 years ago I loaded a bunch of 308s using the Lyman cast bullet manual. Loads were very similar to those listed above.

Saeed- In my experience, 8.0G of HS-6 is a starting load for .357 Mag. (tho I prefer 2400)

What do you do with all the excess case capacity? Any filler?

I do not use any fillers for the 308.

I do when loading reduced loads for the 577 T.Rex.

I use about 45-50 grains of UNIQUE and put in some KAPOK to keep the powder down by the primer.

I have a STEYER in 223 Remington that came with a silencer from the factory.

I am going to shoot it without the silencer first, then put the silencer back and shoot the same loads again.

I have tried them on impala, with 168 Sierra MK bullets.

They whizzed straight through, and the animal took a while to die after being shot behind the shoulders.

I had to shoot it again in the head to finish him off.

So the answer is yes, but I would prefer to use another bullet in this case.

These loads would work well on deer with 220 grain RN bullets. I killed several Texas deer with the Sierra 220 RN at around 1109 fps out of a .32-20 Contender carbine. The bullets tumbled and killed rather well. Accuracy with the 1:10 twist accuracy was decent to 100 yards.

About four decades ago I loaded '06 cases with 170 gr Speer FNs ahead of 12 gr Unique to take deer behind Dad's place. Distances from 25 to 75 yds. Heart/lung shots, they all ran - 60 to 150 yds. No problem b/c they were shot in a field. Animals were between 120# and 160# dressed. Dressing them out could see no evidence of expansion, looked to be .30 cal holes in and out with some bruising of lung and heart tissue. Have no idea what velocities obtained.

They were decently accurate, well under 2" at 50 yds from Dad's 1903A3. We had a 2.75x Tasco on it back then.

I shot a coulpe of rounds loaded with 11grs of Unique, this afternoon. The first round shot fine but I noticed more recoil on the second, then a sticky bolt.It could be that I accidentally double charged the case but I am not sure.I did not fire another after that. Here is a picture of the case with the extractor mark and the blown out primer.

Trailboss is superior to normal pistol powders because it fills to the neck.
The only one I still use other than TB is 8.0 Greendot in 223, as it still hits to point of aim, and is really accurate.

11 grains of UNIQUE is relatively mild.

You might have double charged it.

A case that badly damaged would indicate to me a double charge. I shoot 10gr. of Unique in my .30-06 and 15gr. in my .35 Whelen with no problem at all. You need to carefully inspect every case after charging to prevent a re-occurence. I keep an LED light right beside my powder measure for this purpose.

I shot reduced loads using 9grs of Unique and 25grs H4895 this afternoon. No issues with any of the two.I could not speak for their accuracy as my Lothar Walther barrel is just about shot out.The Unique load was almost as mild as a 22LR.The H4895 was a nice soft load.
