I've never used a 162 or 175. I used the 160 Nosler Part. Think slow powder. I used 7828 but switched to RL25. 80 grs gives right at 3300'.

As usual just my $.02

R-19 is too fast for top performance.Try r-25,imr7828 or h-1000.

I have the 7STW in a Ruger #1. I also suggest a slower powder.
I am using Sierra 160 SPBT and Hornady 162 SPBT. I have experimented with RL25 a bit , but am presently loading with H1000 to 3150 or 3200 FPS, dependent on ambient temps.
I currently have this rifle shooting three shot groups at 1/2 moa with a cold barrel using the Hornady 162's.
This cartridge can definitely be made to shoot well.
I hope to do some work with Magnum and with Retumbo for this rifle as well as for my 264 sometime in the future. Both of these powders should also be excellent in the 7STW.

Everone above is right on target. My stw likes H1000 with lead core bullets and 7828 with barnes all copper bullets. Reloader 25 is the next powder I am going to try.

No, no, no. RL-19 is too fast for the STW, especially with the heavy weight bullets. In fact. most of the powders mentioned here are on the fast side for the 175. I use surplus WC 872. It is cheap and dependable. Start with H870 "maximum" loads and work up as pressure indications and chronographed readings indicate. I was able to get 3100 fps safely with a 175 grain Nosler out of a 24 inch barrel with this powder.

H1000 is by far the most accurate powder in my custom made Ruger No.1 7mmSTW. I prefer the 110gr IMPALA solid. While up to 87gr(and 4000fps) are possible, I stick with 83gr for 3800fps. Groups range from 1/4-1/2"
