What will 1:10 stabilise in 257
Hi Guys

My 250-3000 has a 1:10 twist, do you think it would stabilise the Hornardy or Nosler 110 grain projectiles - I should be getting an MV of about 2700 with load, 35 gns 4320 ??

The 110 Accubond shoots into 3/4" groups out of my 25/06 with a 1:10 twist. So I would answer yes to your question.

might have trouble with a 120gr TTSX -- but unless you have a store of the old 140/145gr hornady's, it will stablize just about anything

Your 1:10" twist will stabilise ANY weight 25 cal pills, anything slower than this and you would have problems with 120gr pills.

Even lower velocities would produce even better accuracy with this twist rate, as a 1:10" twist is still a little fast for 75-100gr pills.

33 grains of 2208 did not stabilise 120 Partitions in my 1 in 10" twist 250-3000.

Wow - if you still have a hoard of those .257" 140-grain Hornadys, I'll buy all you have!

j/k

As long as the OP keeps velocity max (for a bolt gun, not the 45,000 cup for M99s) he should not have problems with commercial cup-and-core .257" bullets.

You should be fine in that 250 Savage driving the bullets near max.

A 1-in-10" twist reliably stabilizes 130 gr. bullets from my .25-06. Now my problem is finding more bullets of that weight for it.
