Need some help my dad just called me and said he was a buddys house reading his Hornady manual for 375 H+H and the like. He mentioned a powder that was giving top velocities and said he thought it was WXN or somthing. Can anyone look and tell me what it is?

Never heard of it. Check with your buddy and get a verification on the powder designation. I think something was lost in the translation.

Are you sure it was not Winchester WXR? It is made in Sweden and is supposed to be similar to RL-22. Merg

However, the Winchester WXR seems to be too slow for the 375 H&H.....

I agree. The only Winchester powder in the Hornady #7 is W760 and it isn`t the fastest listed. Best velocities come with a few powders, 4064, R15, and vapodogs N-140 to list a few all do top speeds with all listed weight bullets.

Winchester is no longer manufacturing and/or packaging WXR. Perhaps you can find some hidden away in some smaller shops where it didn't sell well. I picked up three pounds a year ago in a small interior shop, and a friend picked up two pounds in a far northern town. I don't know if the situation is greatly different in the states.

Winchester does market a new powder that appears to provide a similar burn rate, Supreme 780. You will need to check on the Hodgdon site to find loading data for this newer powder.
