Hey everyone, I should be getting my gun back from the shop in the next month or so, and I was wondering what everyone is loading...I picked up some H4381 and RL22 at the last gun show. I am using Lapua brass, F210M primers, SMK142's any additonal input would be appreciated. I do have several manuals that give loads, but just curious to see what everone else uses, I am excited about getting started with this cartridge!

My 6.5x284 is a hunting gun, and used only for that. I use 140gr Rem pspcl moving at 2800 using H4350. The max load listed in Hodgen's Annual Manual is 45.5gr which gave me app.2600fs, with no sign of preasure. So increased it to get 2800fs. Didn't see any sine of excess preasure. H4831 worked also but H4350 seemed to work better. I do not recommend going over published loading data and this is the only rifle I do it on, and it is a wildcat and the internal capacity is probly greater than the one used by Hodgdon.

In my experience R22 and IMR 4831 worked very well. Slightly les pressure with the R22, but accuracy was a tad better with the IMR. Using a 28" Hart barrel I was able to get velocities with the Sierra 142, Berger 140 and Hornady 140 in excess of 3,000 ft/sec's. Accuracy was about .3 MOA all the way out. I wish that I wa a better shooter as this rifle was the most capable I have ever shot. It is mostly shot out now as the long range P-dogs have eaten the tube up. Kills to 1247 yards, and a 1 in 6 percentage at 1,000. Retained energy and velocity appeared amazing to me. Enjoy this one.
