I have a remington long action from my 270 Win that I would to use to build a 6mm Rem heavy barrel varmit gun. This will be made to shoot from a bench using a front rest and a rear bag. Would like suggestions as to barrel length, twist to handle medium to heavy bullets, stock to use, and loads. Of course all other ideas will be appreciated. Chief

Why not go as long as possible to increase velocity? A 1-8" twist will handle most all bullets, a -10" will do good for everything but the heaviest bullets. A guy named Seafire knows alot about 6mm Rem, if you wanna PM him. I'm sure he will chime in, he helped me alot, as I am building a 6mm AI. Love shooting precision and long range. Big bores too! Recent college grad, started a company called MK Machining where I'm developing a bullpup rifle chassis system.

I have one in a 6mm-06 (not much more than a 6mm rem) with a Douglas stainless #7 26" barrel and 1-9" twist. I once shot 6 prairie dogs with seven shots at 599 yards.....not too shabby. I used a PF M-70 for mine but the Rem-700 is a very fine varmint action. Use a stock with a flat base forend to help sit on the bags. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery."
