Hi all,

I have a S&W Mod. something or other 32 S&W J Frame I would like to reload for and shoot. I have a bunch of new 32 H&R Mag brass laying around. Can I trim the 32 H&R brass to 32 S&W length load and shoot safely? My instinctive side tells me it would be OK. However, my wife tells me that side of my brain hasn't been worth 4 dead flies for decades. Any comments or cautions?

Thanks,

Stephen

Cut one case and seat a bullet. If it chambers
you are good. The only question is the case
wall thickness but since they take the same
size bullet and fit the same chamber probably
no problem.

If you need dies, I have a set I'd sell. LMK.

hawkins and craigster,

Thanks to you both. Good idea to make a dummy round. I have dies for the 32 H&R Mag and am wondering if they will work as well as the 357/38 Spl interchange. If not, I may be in touch craigster. Thanks for the offer.

Your .32 Mag dies should work. The only "if" is if the seater will go low enough to seat bullets in the shorter case. I went the other way and bought a set of .32 S&W Long dies, and have used them to load shorts and magnums too.

gnoahhh,

Glad to read your response. Will go to the shop momentarily and make up a dummy. IIR the seater die has lots of threads. We'll see.
