I would like to here your user feedback on this round, been thinking of considering it for a rebarrel on a rifle this year. My primary use for it would be longrange varminting. Anyway postup please and thanks.

Indiana,

I have one I built years ago on a M700 Rem action with a 9" twist Shilen barrel. It is pillar bedded in a McMillan fiberglass stock with aluminum pillars, and it is a half-minute rifle. It will shoot selected 120 gr varmint bullets into the .2s and .3s.

I use it as a deer rifle, mostly with 120 to 140 grain bullets. It is an excellent cartridge, and I like it a lot. I find it easy to load for, not picky at all.

There are versions built on the .270, .280 and .30-'06 cases, as well as Ackley improved and other improved versions. Mine is a based on the .30-06 case, and I use .25-'06 brass as the base for my loads.

There are Europoean versions out there too (6.5X64 and 6.5X65), as well as the 6.5X68.

I chose the 6.5-06 as my first custom rifle and am patiently waiting for the finishing touches to be applied.

I did a fair amount of research before deciding on this caliber and believe it will be perfect for long range varminting and more.

PS magazine had an interesting article last month on this caliber and the 284 bullet as well.

I have a number for a guy in WA that is building this caliber for many bench resters to use in 1000 yard matches and such. They have had excellent results and believe this caliber will do nothing but become more popular. I will email his number to you on Monday and you can call the horses mouth himself. But beware, you WILL want one after talking to him! Jim R

I have one and I use 30-06 brass to make mine.

I shoot 95 grain vmax for varmints, only one problem, when ya load them to 3455 ya don't want to keep the skins. Makes a big mess.

Used it this year to take 7 deer, using 125 partition and 129 grain Hornady interlocks, both worked very well, range was 125 to bout 235 yards. All one shot kills.

Hope this helps,

Ken

Alright! Thanks, I thought I was on the right track. Believe I will try and go ahead and try and have my gun rebarreled this spring.
