I wrote Lee about their Tokarev dies. The sizing die is larger than a CZ52 chamber. Typical Lee response, said they are sizing dies, not form dies. I have some RCBS 30 Mauser dies that are better. CZ52 is stronger than the Tokarev, load book myth

A very interesting topic! At last for me, as I am "hunting" for a 7,62 Mauser Broomhandle ( and 7,65 mm Para, too ). I also will someday get a TT 33. ( a CZ vz 52 is very low on my collecting list, I don´t know why, perhaps I don´t like it as much as Browning design guns ) And of course I will roll my own, a SP bullet is always a good idea in such a hi vel loading ... Until now I was quite satisfied with LEE equipment, and I would, as I don´t think I will reload 7,62 x 25 ammo by the thousands, have bought LEE dies! Along with a LEE trimmer and a LEE factory crimp die. As the two cartridges in question are dimensionally identical, I think only chambers really out-of-spec should give problems with standard dies. If a "correct" chamber gives troubles, either LEE dies are dimensionally not correct ( which I presume is the case there ) or the dies should be marked "not for cartridges to be used in the CZ Vz 52". Or LEE should make a special die for the gun. Also thanks for the link: VERY good reading! Have fun, Hermann formerly, before software update, known as "aHunter", lost 1000 posts in a minute

ddhotbot, I converted the floating bullet seating stem to a non-floating kind by putting a gas check between the two pieces and epoxying all three items together. I screwed the bullet seating stem all the way down to make it align properly while the epoxy sets. This worked well. Also I had to cut the bottom off the sizing die to get the case far enough into the die to push the shoulder of the case back far enough to chamber easily. Good luck.

The best seating die I have found is the Hornady one for 30 lugar. The neck/shoulder dimensions are practically identical, so it works very well for 7.62x25 o3 30 mauser. I use either a Lee 7.62x25 or an RCBS 30 mauser sizing die (I haven't settled on one yet), a Lyman M expander die, and a Lee FCD (collet type). Andy

There were Chinese barrels made for Tokarevs. Reaming one out to 9x23Win makes the Tokarev very powerful. The 158 gr XTP bullet can be seated out to 1.3". The pistols can take it and extract when shooting with twice the pressure that makes a 357 mag too sticky to extract from a light revolver. The barrels for a Tokarev are much easier to make than a 1911. The locking ribs go all the way around and are easy to make on a lathe. The link lug can be welded on. That pistol has been to the range once and shot a 5 shot group: 4.2" @ 100y.
