I was just looking at one of the .500 S&W Revolvers yesterday. I'd guess your Rifle doesn't weigh much more than that Honkin Revolver. What kind of accuracy do you get with the Sabots?

All I can tell you is that they seem to fly straight at 25 feet. Today was the first time I have shot the rifle. Just bought it yesterday afternoon. I plan on scoping the rifle and loading up some more ammo and sighting it in. But don't know when I get to it since hunting season wont come around again for 10 more months. -------------------- THANOS WAS RIGHT!

I actually saw the Cartridge before I saw the Revolvers. I stood there thinking it would make a right fine Deer, Bear, and Hog Killer in a lever action. I had no idea that H&R had tooled up for them. Since they are part of Marlin, we still might just see it in a Lever Action. I'll be looking forward to seeing your results with the Sabots. That sure adds an extra level of usefulness to that Cartridge. And when the Hornady Evolution Bullets hit the shelf, it should be very interesting to try them in the Sabots. Best of luck with it.

The loads all seemed to group. Except for the sabots. They were all over but the did fly nose first. -------------------- THANOS WAS RIGHT!

Years ago I was communicating with a fellow about using Sabots in a 45-70. He was also having problems getting it to group. I think he decided to try a slightly slower Powder, but it could be just the opposite. It must have been about the time the "Shooters" Board went under, because I don't remember any additional info from him. As usual, if you are venturing into Loads which are Un-Tested by a Powder or Bullet manufacturer, I'd encourage you to keep an eye on the Pressure with good old PRE. It will alert you to Pressure Spikes and erratic Loads with first-hand info directly from the Case. Best of luck to you.

also loaded some barnes 375 grain xpb 35 h110=1757 36 h110=1838 37 h110=1859 38 h110=1878 looks to me like 36 grains is max with not much gain in velocity from more powder. There was no signs of high pressure with any of the loads. ---- -------------------- THANOS WAS RIGHT!
