Hey anyone using the 178gr A-Max? If so have you also used the 175SMK? Again if so did you use the same powder load with both or did you have to vary it? Especially interested if you used the same load of Varget with both bullets. Kind of need to know REAL quick because I need to do something with this information TODAY!
Thanks

Sarge

Sarge, I haven't shot the A-Max but have shot plenty of 175 MK's (Rem 700 VSSF.) I would look at the bearing surfaces and see how similiar, and I would think about how hot my 175 load seems to be, then I would flip a coin and probably load the same load with the same amount of jump (if any.) I have used the Sierra 142's and the 140 A-Max & 140 Berger in a 6.5/284 and found them to be near identical in pressure issues, but not as accurate as the Bergers, and not as consistant as the Sierra's, so they don't see as much use now.

Hello SargeRN,
Common saying around shooters at long range matches, if the bullet mfg.'s name does not start with an S as in Sierra, you already have problems!!
