Sd, I have a box I picked up somewhere but haven't shot them yet. Maybe it's time to break open the box & give em a try. I would think you can't get enough powder in to get the vel. much above 2350fps, but I'll give it a try. H4350 is very accurate in mine w/ 210-250gr bullets.

If you have a box of them, realize that they are not manufactured any more....that happens to ANY bullet seafire starts using...guaranteed....

according to speers manual # 12....
page 347....

Re19: from 55 to 59 grains 2232 to 2394 fps
Re 22: 55.5 to 59.5 grains 2193 to 2351 fps
IMR 4064: 45.5 to 49.5 grains...2127 to 2314 fps
IMR 4320: 46 to 50 grains...2111 to 2295 fps
IMR 4350: 50 to 54 grains..2143 fps to 2314 fps
H 4831: 55 to 59 grains..2139 to 2294 fps
IMR 4831: 52 to 56 grains...2098 fps to 2259 fps
IMR 7828: 54 to 58 grains...2057 to 2209 fps

Personally, I have worked up a load using H 380 that proved the most accurate.... start at 50 grains and work up....Mine is a Winchester Model 70...
Cheers

Thanks for the info Seafire. That is exactly what I was looking for since none of my manuals have any info for the super heavy bullets.

I got lucky and found the Speer bullets on ebay. I know Swift makes a 338cal, 275gr A-Frame. But the Swift manual doesn't have any load info for the 338-06.

I have two 338-06's, one on a model 700 action, the other a remington 7600 pump.

A third is being built right now on a home sporterized Remington Springfield 03A3 that I can't get to shoot. The barrel is in pretty rough shape though.

The action sure is smooth and feels solid. So something was done right. Installed a Timney trigger.

I am currently working on the stock. The guy who finished the stock must have done it with a paintbrush and 150 grit. Ok, maybe not quite that bad, but it made the woodworker in me cringe. Had some poorly fit white spacers that had turned grimy. Those are history. I have been slowly working with steel wool to smooth everything out and get rid of the super high gloss finish. Trying to save the work of refinishing the whole stock, but if it has to be, that is what will get done. Luckily the finish is really thick and it is actually turning out pretty nice.
