I bought some "once fired" 300 Weatherby brass from a guy on gunbroker - it arrived in an old Tiger box with lots of corrosion, silver primers in the brass and green primer sealant. The seller indicated the old brass came with off color primers and sealant and that it is really once fired. Is anyone familiar with the older ammo to confirm that was the case? After 16 hours in the tumbler it is clean and in usable shape so no great loss - but I would like to know if he was accurate in his description. Thanks

Go for it, I have used the same old cases with no problem. Remember, forgivness is easier to get than permission.

From your description, these cases sound like the real deal. The old Weatherby stuff had silver primers and a green sealant. The old Tiger boxes are cool, I have a goodly batch of them. R Flowers

Thanks for the info - it is nice to reaffirm that most of the folks who reload are exactly the people that you can trust.......and even better when I used the brass with a couple of new loads the hottest produced a quarter sized 4 shot group that will be my new elk load.

specneeds, I also have some old tiger box ammo in 300 Wby. The description is correct. The only exception is that Norma Brass was loaded by Weatherby in CA for "special customers" to their specs. and the green primer sealant was not used. Some of these loads were excessive, IMO, causing hard bolt lifts. Weighing these cartridges against those loaded by Norma, showed an up to 5 gr. weight increase, which I'm guessing to be the powder charge. Geoff Shooter
