A friend of mine just gave me a .257 WBY MAG. to reload for him. He will be using this for deer, etc. I am thinking 117/120gr. bullets. Does anyone have any loads or advice for this calibre? It was made in Japan, if that makes any difference. Many thanks, SAM

I would not reload for anyone now that lawyers are everywhere and in particular that cartridge. That said the .257 Weatherby people are at www.24hourcampfire.com

I use 70gr of Reloader 22, Fed 215 magnum primers and 115 gr ballistic tips. 67 gr of IMR 7828 works well in my rifle also. Back off 10% and start from there.

the 117 hornady's BT's with max loads of re 22 or i 7828 should be great practice/deer loads. Only your gun can tell you whats best. The jap built wby's are some of the most accurate ever made. If he drops down to 100 grainers it's possible to hit 3700 fps--WOW! My wby liked the 117 hornady and re22. Your mileage may vary! have fun
