I am wanting to make up some loads with VV powder in my 30-06. Looking at the 140,150 and 160 powders. I am also curious about there improved 500 series powders.
Any recommendations? In the tech data there are few loads for the 150/550 powders.

Thanks for any info.

I really like N 160 for 30-06. Depending on the rifle and choice of bullet, I use
55 - 57 gr for 180 grain bullets.

I use 53 gr. of N-150 with a 150 gr Sierra Pro-hunter. Accuracy is great.

My only use of VV powders in .30-06 has been with 150 grain bullets and N160. This powder is a bit slow for the 150 grainer, so I had to pack the maximum amount I could reasonbly get into the case to equal the velocities I was getting with slighly faster powders in the IMR series. Velocity did finally equal the faster IMR powder and accuracy was also comparable.

I would think that with 165 and 180 grain bullets, N160 would be excellent, but I haven't had a chance to try it.

The only VV powder I've used is N550. I haven't used it in the -06, but have in the 308 and 35 whelen ackley. It is a bit slower then Reloader 15 and Varget, so I'd think it would have potential for 150 and 165 gr bullets in the -06.

I emailed the VV customer service in Finland and got back the nicest reply from a person named Janne (man/woman who knows)
Janne gave me N550 load data for the 7.62.54R and 30-06. I also asked about using it for the 270 Win. they didn't have any data for that.
I will post it when I get a little more time

Danev2. Janne is a man, no doubt. Perhaps a finnish version of Johnny.
For real bullets that is 185gr and up to 220gr, N560 is wonderful, start at 53.0gr.

I also asked and got replies from Janne.

Althoug I am still waiting for 9.3x62/286 grs data with 500 series powders.

Anybody knows if data for 500 series is available for every ( rifle ) caliber in their reloading guides?

Good shooting! H

I have the realoding guide form VV (the thin paperback booklet) and there aren't alot of loads of for the 500 series powders.
I have asked many eople in the last two weeks as to how good the 500 series is and the people that have used it, say they are very good.
W.G.T. " N550 there are NO loads developed for it in 270. Stevespages.com has 13 loads for 270 with VV but nothing using 550.
And these are the same loads that VV publishes in there reload guide.
So I am going to put together some loads, in the next few weeks with 130 and 150 gr bullets and see what happens
I'll keep you posted!
