These bullets shot excellent in my 243 over Varget. I tried them in my Remington 600 over RL 22 and the results were not so good. Two would hit close to each other and the third out in space. I believe the shooter was having a decent day, the scope base and rings are tight, the trigger is sweet and the action is bedded with the barrel floating.

I am almost out of RL 22 but have H4350 that I will try next. Any other suggestions?

This could be so many things but I would look closely at brass differences and especially
runout error.I have had better accuracy with H-4350 with the 85 HPBT in .243 win but your 6mm
barrel twist may not like that bullet. Do you full
length resize or neck size the cases? You might
check out a recent article at 24 hour Campfire web site concerning accuracy reloading. Good luck! BLR7! [Cool]

The 85 gr BT has been my prairie dog load for years, with 42 gr of 4831.

I see a trend towards 4831 and 4350...

ricciardelli~

fine group at 200, especially with a 9X scope.

TCS~

I am using new brass with light neck turning, 2nd firing, neck sized and bullets seated with Redding Competition dies. Run-out is most likely less than .003 although I haven't checked.

Oilburner,

My 6MM likes the 85HPBT over 47.5gr IMR4831 with a Fed 210M primer in a Win Case.

Good Shooting,
George

My own 6mm Remington -- an older Remington 700 Varmint Special, with heavy barrel and pressed-checkering stock -- seems persnickety about what powder it likes. The only thing I've gotten to shoot well in it is IMR 4064, and I've tried a lot of others -- H380, IMR 4350, H4350, IMR4831, H4831, Varget, H414, IMR3031, Benchmark, and probably others.

I don't recall using the Sierra 85 gr HPBT, but I have used Berger bullets of that weight and type, with good results. I especially like the 70 gr. Sierra Matchking.

I too have an older 700 ADL in 6MM Remington. The gun is a sub MOA rifle, just not with anything over about 70 grains. The gun is also very particular about powder. It likes the 55gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip best with IMR 4064 or Varget and the 70gr. Sierra HPBT Match. My luck with the 85gr. was only mediocre.

I have an older Savage 110 Sporter with a 22" barrel. It does fairly well with the Sierra 85gr. HPBT when I push it along with IMR4895 37.5grs. It'll print .625", and come out the barrel at 3200fps. That's not bad for a sporter barrel. I have to take my time since the tube is pretty warm by the third shot. Actually the Sierra 70gr. HPBT is a better performer with WW748 38.1grs. It's a shade faster at 3250fps. I load both out to 2.705". I suspect a Hart heavy SS barrel would get the group size down a bit more. Best wishes.

N150 is a bit weird in 243 and 6mm rem seeming to act faster than N140 according to the Viht book charge weights.
