This will be used in a Brazilian Contract N frame circa 1941. I have used acp brass and need loads to chose from. I'm shooting the 45 in moon clips as most will know. Don't see a reason to buy auto rimmed brass. My philosophy is to use the middle of a load chart as MY maximum load. I will have some of the typical pistol powders. Unique and 231 come to mind for now. Maybe some Green Dot if I look around. Any suggestions as to starting loads to be used for close range finishing of game? My bullets are Hunters Supply cast .452 BB flat point SWC at 255 gr. TIA for any replies. Packy

I believe there is data in the older Speer manuals for 250grLSWC. I'll check when I get home. I run a 250grLSWCHP @ 850fps in acp brass, pretty easily done in my 4" M625 w/ Unique or WSF, which are my choices. LIFE IS NOT A SPECTATOR'S SPORT!

From the Speer Number Nine; 250gr Semi Wadcutter, Starting load with Unique 5.8gr at 773fps max load 6.2 at 824fps. I would use a roll crimp, instead of a taper crimp. In a Brazilian Contract gun, or any other older 45 ACP revolver, I do not thing I would want to go much hotter... I have gone much hotter, in a S&W 25, Model of 1955... I use 5.9gr under a 250grLSWCHP @ 1.275" for 825fps from my 4" M625. Seated to 1.195" to cycle through a 1911, it goes 937fps (too hot, keep the OAL longer). This particular bullet is quite long as it's a modified 270grLSWC from RCBS. LIFE IS NOT A SPECTATOR'S SPORT!
