bartsche-

Thanks for sharing the info. I agree, sometimes the so-called "bargain" bullets can turn in impressive performances.

But the info above seems contradictory. You say "mild load", but emphasize "hot barrel". Is the load responsible for quickly heating the barrel, or are you saying that by the time you got to these loads, the barrel was already heated up from all of the other shooting?

Here is some info for sharing. .243

Today I was testing some MidSouth bulk 100gr 6mm bullets in my Ruger varminter 26" barrel.Win cases, CCI mag primers, 2.7OAL

1. 36.2 gr. Accurate 4064, (2912 to 2974 fps). Sooty necks and primers were hardly flattened. Appeared mild. 10 shot 1" group at 50 yds.

2. 39gr. Accurate 4350 (2946 to 2981 fps). HOT barrel, mild, 5 shot 1/4" group.

3. 36.2gr. IMR 7383 (2653 to 2751)mild, dirty, 12 shot 1 1/2" group. All powder seemed to burn.

4. 46 gr. 5010 (2312 to 2401fps.) HOT barrel,really mild, a very little unburned powder, 12 shot 1" group at 50 yds.

5. 20gr. BLUE Dot (2393 to 2447fps.)HOT barrel,mild, 10 shot 1" grp. 12 shot 1 1/2" grp. Two flyers

These 100gr. 6mm, Mid South bullets cost 5.7 cents ea. or $11.40/200. I definitely will reorder some. roger

YES.
I put 60 rounds through in less than an hour.Trying to replicate a ground squirel or prarie dog shoot. Should have made that clear from the start.I thought of it but just shined it on.Nice touch. roger
