I think the moly discussion is a little imprecise. Molybdenum the element is a refractory metal. It is very expensive melts at very high temperatures and is not very biologically reactive. It was used at a company that I worked for tooling using in very high temperature sintering furnaces for medical implants. It is not a lubricant. However molybdenum disulfide is a dry powdered lubricant due to the combination of sulfur with the molybdenum. However sulfur when exposed to water vapor may cause traces of H2SO4 to form. That is sulfuric acid. I have no interest in having that potential around my firearms. But the black nasty finger prints I see on the boxes at the store are enough to keep me away from the stuff. If you want to try something similar but less messy try boron nitride powder. It is even higher temperature rated than molydisulfide, more high techy, and way more expensive. It is a white powder. It is also a ceramic and contains no sulfur.

Excellent point. For people who do not believe in cleaning barrels, that is another reason to avoid Moly. Of course Barrel Pits can be formed by Water(High Humidity, Vapor, Sweat) alone if the Bore is left dirty "whether or not" Moly is used. So, even if you do not use Moly, and if you do not treat your Barrel with proper care, you can get basically the same thing.

Valid point! That right there is enough for me not to use it. Why add something to it that would just add another variable to the equation when most people have enough with what is on hand? Looks to me that I will be using whats left of the Molly bullet lube then moving on with something else for cast bullets. I m just going to be making sure my rifles get cleaned big time after use with the prospective of sulfuric acid being present!
