Bought my custom 416/404 dies from C&H. They are first quality and the company is nice to work with. You will probably work with the owner, whose name, I regret to say, escapes me. A really nice man with whom I corresponded for a time after our transaction about hunting and Africa. If it is a custom job, expect to wait; but its like they say about good food-it takes time. Dave and Company, www.ch4d.com make great custom dies. There is an HOWEVER, though. You might have to send the dies back, for "fitting", so it were, on occasion

I have no experience with the currently manufactured C & H dies, but the old ones (from 40 years ago) were once the "standard" of the industry. They were copied by several other manufacturers, and as they say, that is flattery. I still have some of the originals, and picked up a couple of sets in .300 Winchester recently (found them at two separate guns shows, and didn't really need the second set but figured that it's always nice to have spare parts around).

My original press was a C&H aluminum C-press. It worked fine, and for the life of me, I can't see why I ever traded it off. Some nonsense about "stonger" metal and less "flex". In reality, it did everything I have ever needed.

I bought a set of .300 Sherwood dies from them and no problems. They put them together and shipped in 2 days, can't ask for better than that for a difficult to find cartridge.

i live 35 miles from CH and know that it is a great company to work with.dave is as good as they get when trying to help you with whatever you need!he spent 2 hours making up some special dies for a friend of mine while we walked around the plant watching them make more dies and asking way to many questions, that by the way were all answered!i also own one of their H press and like just fine .it really shines when you are loading ammo that you want to put the factory crimp on or military type ammo.

I've got a set of 6mm Remington dies that I bought sometime back. I just used them the other day, it still impresses me how nice they are.
