338 win mag Blc-2
I have some Blc-2 i would like to use up in a 338 win mag. but cant find any load data.
Would like to get around 2400-2600 fps with a 225 grain bullet. Any idea where to start.
I know this isnt the best 338 mag powder but just wanting to use it up. thanks.

p dog shooterI have used many kegs of it in smaller cartridges.
I looked through 5 reloading books and find no data for BC-2 and 338WM.
That would lend me to believe that it is an inappropriate choice for the 338WM.
Not that it can't be done but I have no idea where to start

craigsterLyman's Relative Burn Rate Chart shows BLC2 between IMR 4895 and IMR 4064. Hodgdon has loads listed for both IMR s and 225 grain bullets.

J WisnerHave used BLC2 in an 308 years ago with a 22 inch barrel, all I can say is watch out for the muzzle fireworks.
Would LOVE to see a vid of this powder from a 338 WM after dark

craigsterI have nicely done '91 Argentine with a 16.5" barrel in the original 7.65 Arg chambering. Max loads with ball powder result in fire balls the size of beach balls.

May make a change of plans.
I think i will try it in a 30-06 and 9.3x62 instead.
I can find load data for those two. thanks everyone.

NormanConquestIn the 80s I would buy the Bl-C 2 by the 8 lb. keg. It was great in the 308, 223, + 7mm-08. At that time it was also very reasonably priced. I think you have limitations in performance in lager cases like the 338. IMO.

Ireload3Don't use BLC2 in the .338 or any cartridge with a large case capacity for the bore size. You will find it produces very large ans unpleasant muzzle flash and concussion.
Or you can be hard headed and try it.
You will not like it.
Thanks Ireload3 I think ill try using it up in a 30-06 or my 9.3x62 . At least i can find load data for those two. You think that may work ?

Can't speak for the 7-08 but it sure works for the .223 and .308.

They will recommend not using BLC2 for reloading the 338 Win Mag.
