Hi Folks,
Here is the reply I received today from Barnes concerning my inquiry about the new bullets:

Thanks for choosing Barnes Bullets. Yes, the Tripple Shock X Bullet is comming. You will be impressed by what this bullet has to offer. This X Bullet has three rings on the shank that provides significantly increased velocity, reduced pressures, reduced fouling, and best of all, increased accuracy in more rifles. This is the very same X Bullet that has been time tested and proven to have more one shot kills. Its solid copper construction provides no fragmentation and maximum penetration, up to 28% deeper than the best lead-core bullets. On impact , the bullet face opens to create four razor sharp cuttting edges. We are very excited to get this on the market and the tooling is in the process of being built so that these can be produced at a reasonable cost. Currently, we project the following offers in the Triple Shock X-Bullet. We expect that these bullets will be available in March/April of 2003.

6mm 95 grain FB
25 caliber 100 and 115 grain BT
270 caliber 130 grain BT
7mm 140 BT and 160 FB
30 caliber 150, 168 and 180 grain BT

We won't be coating any of them with the XLC coating, because we have found the extra rings to produce the same, sometimes better, results than the XLC coating.
Thanks for your input and support of our products. We look forward to hearing from you again.
May the wind be in your face, Be sure not to pull it, May you have one shot kills, And always use Barnes Bullets.

Sounds like they are trying to copy the G. S. Custom design

I don't know if the GS Custom design is patented, I don't think it is. However, if Barnes are supplying a bullet which has the same ballistic properties as GS then they are doing nothing more than responding to a marketing demand GS has been unable to meet, because of their exporting hassles and perceived tardiness in correcting them.

Shame, but there it is, the power of the free market.

I think Barnes must have looked at Mike brady's (Northfork bullets) He has had rings on his bullets since they came out. And they do increase velocity and reduce fouling. And as far as accuracy The northforks are very accurate.
