Granted, there is no "one" powder that can do it
all. However, this powder made for short magnums
is being used in other rounds with great success.
The guys at accurateshooter.com came up with
several successful loads for their BR's:
http://www.6mmbr.com/reloder17.html

I've so far had good success with the 7mm WSM as
well as the .25-06 (actually, it is the most
accurate load used for my Sav 112 in .25-06).

I've recently loaded several rounds for the
.243 with RL17 and will try them when warmer
weather arrives (temps now in the single digits
below & above "0").

In this thread:
http://forums.accuratereloadin...5411043/m/3451079611

Seafire2 mentions in his third post that
RL17 was giving pretty impressive results
with his .22-250 both in speed and accuracy
with 50gr up bullets.

Since there are no posted "recipes" on
Alliant's website for RL17 in the .22-250,
where would one start?

I've played with it in several calibers and would recomend you start about 2 grains under 4350 data and work up. I think if you compare re17 to equal loads of either I4350 or h4350 it will be slightly faster. Whether or not it is a "magic" pressure reducer....I'm not convinced it is regardless of the articles as I've seen posts where it has hit the max in several guns at only about 50-75 fps faster than other powders in the same guns.

I am waiting for my RL-17 to come in.I have a 22-250 with a 1in9 twist barrel thay really likes the heavies 60-90gr bullets.
I have used it in a 300wsm before and what he said about 4350 seems to run true.

When first writing the post on this subject, I had
not found any IMR or H 4350 loads, but have since
found a couple, and will simply do as the guys at
Accurateshooter have done. Thanks, guys.

My reason for attempting this is to find one
powder for most calibers that I use which will
give at least one accurate load in each of them.
When successful, I will order said powder in
quantity. This #here, #there, different lot #'s,
etc., is getting old fast.

NFMike got me started with it. His quote: "I may throw all my other powder away and just buy a barrel of R-17."

I'm loading it in my 6.5 Creedmoor.

Maxed out at 3000 fps which is about 200 fps faster than the factory load with H-4350. I also tested W-760 at the same time and got about the same velocity/pressures. The RL-17 was more accurate though.

"The" load I settled on for the gun is around 2900 but to make the ballistics program work you have to enter 2950 into the data.

I would think that this powder would work well in the .22-.250. I load 760 in mine and get great velocity
